Introduction
The Foundation Coalition has expanded the concept of learning communities to include involvement with industry and building an appreciation for diversity within the students who participate in the learning communities. Across the Foundation Coalition, learning communities are increasing retention of students, especially women and underrepresented minorities, and increasing the rate at which students progress through the engineering curriculum.
