Address questions regarding Assignment #9. |
|
Introduce the concepts of polar coordinates, and normal and tangential coordinates based |
on discussions presented in R/S Chapter 13 (pp. 54-68). |
|
Example problem 13-10 in R/S on pp. 55-56 presents a good example of the use of polar |
coordinates. |
|
Example problems 13-12 and 13-13 on pp. 63-63 present good examples of the use of |
normal and tangential coordinates. |
|
Worked Problem Set #10 presents another example problem. |
Skills/Objectives: |
|
Understand the use of polar, and normal and tangential coordinates. |
Assessment: |
|
Homework Set #10: Work problems 13-103, 107, 119, 121, 124, 125, 137 and 138 |
(due on Day 11). |
Resources: |
|
R/S Chapter 13 (pp. 54-68). |
Notes: |
|
The solution to each problem MUST include a units table, all necessary system diagrams, |
all necessary conservation tables, and then the solution. While this material should be a |
review of material presented in Physics, it is important to do a good job presenting it to |
the students - particularly with respect to the polar coordinate sign convention. |
Advanced Organizers: |
|
Read R/S Chapter 13 (pp. 54-68). |
