Objective
The object of this project is to design and test an Excel model for the flow of traffic. The model will be applied to the flow (or interuption of flow) of cars on a roadway, but could be applied more generally to the flow of products on a production line, to the transmission of data, and so on.
Tasks
Your team's tasks include:
- Extending the cab control model developed previously in class to a stream of vehicles.
- Testing and validating the extended model.
- Establishing a way of depicting or visualizing the flow of the vehicles.
- Applying the model to two or more test cases:
- Examining the overall flow pattern when a lead vehicle initiates a "slowing fluctuation."
- Developing and testing a team-generated test case.
The final design and the design process must be documented by the team. The documentation will consist of a written report and an oral presentation to the class.
