| If you are teaching
teaming skills and have 15–20 minutes for team communication,
here is what you might do:
Learning Objective
Students should be able to identify their strengths in communication
(good listener, good speaker).
Classroom Activity
Review with the students what communication is and why it is important
for a team.
Team members might identify and share with one another their communication
styles ("Sender’s
Culture" section). Team members should identify
how they positively impact their team with their communication styles
and identify where areas of conflict might arise between team members
because of different communication styles. Remember to point out
that there is no wrong communication style, but team members must
be aware of differences in communication styles among team members
in order to increase understanding and decrease making wrong assumptions,
thus creating more conflict.
